This afternoon, I was informed a good friend lost his life in a plane crash in Alaska today. From what I was told by his wife it was an in air collision with another plane. He was working for an Outfitter up there in the summers taking people fishing to remote lakes In the fall he helped with the moose hunts. If anyone has heard about it and can lead me to some newspaper articles I would be thankful. RIP Dave.

Check KSRM News. They are local and will keep it updated.
Never good news when something like this happens.

The potential for midair crashes is what concerns me the most when I fly in light aircraft.

This is bad news. Flew with the one pilot a few times long ago. Heart goes out to family and friends.

It's got our town in disbelief right now, fortunately his wife was able to spend the last week up there with him. She just arrived back here yesterday. Dave ate, slept, and breathed guiding. Everything he did was to position himself to have his own guide business. He helped an outfitter in Texas on hog hunts in the first part of year, did turkey hunts here in the spring then couldn't wait to get to Alaska in the summer and would come home in the early fall for archery deer and then rifle seasons.

Sad deal and far to common. Ive been in the business for more than 30-years now and its rare that a season goes by without a guide or outfitter losing his life in a plane crash. Watched a real close call just last week. A younger pilot was bringing in a load of fuel in real windy conditions. On a steep approach the barrels came loose inside the plane and were sliding around. Luckily she was able to drop the nose so the barrels slid forward up against her seat. Had they slid back into the tail there would have been no recovering from that.
