Lets use this thread to talk a bit out different sets! We can all use more knowledge!

One set we "developed" is what we call the broken bone set. We use it, and it produces coyotes for us. All we do is take an old bleached leg bone, and snap it in half. That way we have an opening where we can insert bait and lure into the bone, where the marrow used to be. Then we dig a shallow hole / trench, and put the bone at the back, embedded in the ground, with the opening pointed out. The trap is bedded back just like you normally would. We've found that a bait and a food-gland lure (a lure that is both gland and food in one, not to be confused with a food lure, & a gland lure.) We have also have had success with adding coyote or fox urine!

I use a very simple coyote set that can be very effective in the right situations. Find a small thorny bush, about 2’x2’, and bed up to 4 traps on drags around the perimeter of the bush where other vegetation creates a walk-through effect. Take your favorite bait and lure and plop it down into the center of the bush. Coyote comes to the bush, circles it trying to find a way in, and if your placement/guiding is correct, gets caught. Runs off a few yards with the drag, leaving the set Still baited and ready with more traps waiting for the next coyote.

I’m still testing and tweaking this but it shows a lot of promise

Thanks Bob-I like it and am going to try it.

I run mostly pairs of dirt holes and post sets. Two sets at each location, one a dirt hole, one a post set. Both take coon and coyotes where I am. I get about as many coon at dirtholes as I do coyotes too. I haven't found one to be any more "selective" than the other, either. Remakes are made back into same type of set. Remakes work for both too.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
