The recent article in Trappers post got me thinking about crawdad/crawfish oil. What is the nature of the product all the trapping suppliers are selling? Is it synthetic like shellfish, an actual rendered oil, or a tincture of some sort? I am totally unfamiliar with the product.

What I have used for over a decade, from Southeastern outdoor supplies, is ground up crayfish mixed with an oil.
I have heard of synthetic though but never used any.
You could always ask the supplier. Or ask the writer of the article you read.

crawdads dont have any fat. crawfish oil is crawdads tinctured in mineral oil from what I have read here on TMan.
