I remember reading on here last year, when setting a blind/trail set for coyotes to put the trap on the inside of a "Y" or "V" shaped stick and coyotes will almost always step there. Am I remembering that right or does a perpendicular step over stick or sticks work better ? -Thanks

I’ve used something similar to what Dustin does in this video since he mentioned it for coons. I don’t use peat moss I usually just break up the outline with cut up grass. Less issues with freeze here.

Even though they’re primarily coon trails and exposed they catch coyotes every year for me too. It does square animals feet up nicely. I’ve caught fox, badger, coon, skunk, possum, and coyotes using this method. Only waiting on a bobcat.

Cut sticks during off-season, to save time looking for 'right size' sticks at set locations.

Justin always gives good info. Just a note as I like the hat !!!!! even though he is in SD (LOL): Looks like he is on a state highway for that trail. The State of NE DOT DOES NOT give permission to trap state highway right of ways (THE STATE IS the landowner). They have contracts with AHIS dept WS to remove any and all animal problems on their land so private individuals are not allowed. I know several C.O.'s that will issue a trespass ticket on the spot for trapping there (some will give you a 1st warning) so qualify WHERE you are at with regards to state regs. Just so folks know.............. the mike

No problem it really shines when weather gets rough. Our coon trails can be slow once the corn comes out but if you’ve got some extra traps eventually everything will still run them. Very low maintenance set that’s picked up a lot of extra fur for me. I’ve even ran them leading out to field edges where I put coyote sets to catch the riff raff before it ruins a good set.

I drop duke 1.5’s I’ve had for years on them and while they aren’t a preferred coyote trap they’ll hold them and you can get a pile of them for cheap. I believe years ago when I discussed it with Dustin and he was running all blind sets he was running #2’s. He’s got a post on here somewhere of a double on bobcats on a high creek bank. Something I haven’t been able to catch on them yet... maybe this year.

I use the O' Gorman's Mafia Set a bunch. The only difference is I use drags, so the possibility of multiple catches is there and the real trick is where this dude puts a stick I put a turd.
