Any tips for darkening up copper tags? Rolling tags up on all my chains to prep for the season and they seem a little brighter than I would like. I’m sure they’ll tarnish after a season in swamp muck.

I might try a boil or soak in backing soda water. Anybody else try this? Thanks in advance.

Quick shot of spray paint. I dip my traps after I tag them usually and that darkens them right to as well

Heat them high temp then let them cool.

Thanks I’ll give these a shot. I forgot about torching, that’s worked for me with brass screws.

my buddy uses brown magic marker the first year its wrapped around the swivel
after that, its patina is good
I don't have theft problems so just wrap around the swivel and roll

Hitting tags with a torch worked like a charm. Pretty quick too.
