If you’re doing the dimple test where you make a small mound of wxdirt and poke a small dimple in the top add water. If the water beads up and doesn’t soak in you got it right.

Seems to me you don't want your waxed sand holding water. You sure don't want it to soak in.

I make a small mound of waxed sand and as long as it rolls off. It's all good, a bullet proof trap bedding.
Let me sugar coat this

Posco, its just a test. Nobody makes sets that way unless they have their head up their butt. Got ya. I've been using waxed sand and have never seen anyone refer to this test before. I can tell by color when I have enough wax. That's what I go by.

The first time I used it I made 5 sets along a river and that night it flooded and came out of its banks. Two days later I went back when the water was down to reset. and I had three coyotes all caught after the water went down. It was 12 degrees. The two I remade had waxed dirt under and over the trap. They were snug and dry in their beds and ready to go. I did not even do anything to the second one after seeing how the first one was perfect. You will like it.
Just passin through
