Looking at setting small cubbies using 120's on field crossings (out of sight from passerby's ) But will need to use some kind of trailing scent from the edge of the road to pull skunk's to cubby . Had thought of mixing shellfish oil with fish oil . But figured I'd probably attract coons and other non targets . Any thoughts on scent's that would be more appealing to just skunk's for a trailing scent . Thanks

If you set the trap back about 5" you shouldn't have to worry about catching to many coon In a 120 sized trap.

Set In rock piles and any old buildings and fence rows and any brush pile you may find. Or just set them right Inside the road culverts. Out of sight out of mind.

Agree and do most everything you said Beav . I won't be putting these sets where there will be coon traffic . But you never know where a big boar coon shows up and my experience with them is they have a tendency to reach in to cubbies and get caught by a leg .

For what it's worth I catch 3/4 of my skunks on skunky lures. Not targeting them but catch about 10 a year when catching coyotes. I maybe use a skunky lure at 25% of my sets.

Rotten hard boiled eggs. I don't catch to many coon in my skunk sets.
But I don't target skunks until a warm up comes through in January and makes the males move. Then sets are out until the end of the season.
Make sets near known denning sites. Old buildings, rock piles, brush pushed on a pile.
Just what works for me.
Good luck

Never tried a trailing scent for skunk. Maybe banana oil thinned out with vegetable oil would be worth a shot

Paint the trail you want them to take black and put white stripes on it. Seems to work great down South.
