Just hook the grapple in the brush, or staple to a tree root for coon. If no trees or brush, then cable stake.
Simple.
One other option: re rod stake on the end of a long chain. Just drive it through the grapple.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Lucky I am able to trap on my own property, I can drive down my driveway and park since its very long to set along the creek that runs through my place. On the upper portion I guess you could say I can't drive but regardless I would say I spend the most time walking.

About 16 years ago I was setting for kit fox on a wash and staked with one 18” rebar stake. When I checked the set I had a huge catch circle, coyote tracks all over, and no trap. I tracked it for two miles. Saw it once, but never did catch up to it. Never made that mistake again. Moral of the story; yes, if you’re in coyote country, you need to double stake if you’re using rebar.

Best advise i ever got is anchor for the largest animal on your trapline. When I use rerod its always 2, chained super stakes in most ground but in rock and gravel 2 rerod crossed.. In sand , super stake and a rerod attached to the top of the super with a quick link and a JC Conner chestnut. before I did that I had some long walks..

Common sense catches alot of fur..
Pay homage to all you harvest..

Use cable stakes and In most cases your going to be OK with just One. But If the ground Is a bit suspect you can always cross stake with cable stakes.

DONE THAT A TIME OR TWO!!!!

If in doubt... ALWAYS OVER STAKE!!!

Not much sand here lol, but like I leave behind all cable anchors., but rebar has been a main stay for me and I believe I am going back to it.
24 "1/2" 30" trap chain has worked for me.
