Nephew dropped off his traps to get boiled & waxed. All Bridger #2's. As I was setting each one and checking to see if tuned up, I noticed one had a bent frame. I texted him about the bent one, He said, yea it was run over by a tractor. I took apart, straighten frame, straighten spring pin, lined up bent leaver tab, then re-assembled. No new parts required. Back together, I set trap, but pan was too high, so I adjusted that and it's good to go. Bridger #2 front trap, frame bent- Works nicely, ready to boil & wax- Do you repair your run over, bent traps?

Depends on how bad they’re bent up, and what’s bent and where. I do it on some but I’m not gonna spend two hours fixing a bent up trap. I salvage the good parts and junk the bent ones. Eventually get enough good parts that I can put together a whole trap.

I dont fix or repair my traps = I give them to a member on Tman! LOL! To be honest. I dont have the time or patients. So i just right them off! I do 60% of my work = Coyote Contracts for 1 large group. Have had as many as 12 traps smashed flat in 1 day. The always make good on the traps that skidders and bull dozers run over. All my landowners and managers agree up front for $25 per trap replacement cost...even though they are flagged I still lost 3 to a tractor and one to a dump truck dumping crushed rock.

Nice little anvil Hern. I learned on the OLD monties that straight "lever tabs" are not always the best tune. The ones I squared all had high loose jaw. When Deere tripped squared up is the place to start though. Those monties had more spring strength than lever strength.

How long did it take you to disassemble the trap, fix it and put it back together. Just curious. Serious question. Thanks Frame, Spring pin & Lever tab needed straighten, & pan adjustment. Maybe 15-20 minutes, not sure 'cause I took trap apart and left it lay, then worked on it once in awhile the next two days (when I walked by work bench), between doing other things. ADC is right, Vice, Ball Peen Hammer, Screwdriver mainly. Maybe Channel Lock or another tool for odd bend or fix. You'd think a good uncle woulda base plated and laminated them traps for him too. He will learn. I offered a couple years ago. It's only a matter of time... Nice little anvil Hern. I learned on the OLD monties that straight "lever tabs" are not always the best tune. Anvil made from railroad rail. Inherited from father-in-law Straightening the lever tab gave me the most problem. End of the level was crimped near tab. I was too stubborn to replace, I just had to fix it.
