Let me start by saying I’m not a professional trapper just a hobby guy. But I get a few calls a year from land owners I trap asking me to remove skunks so far I just use an old havaheart trap with a trash bag over it but have been thinking about buying a spray proof trap are these any good and if so which one would you recommend

I use a regular cage trap with a bag over it. We catch lots of skunks.

Double door wire trigger traps with metal nose cones. Unlike tube traps good for skunks only the regular traps can be used for chucks, armadillos, raccoons and opossum.

Old car floor mats over cages with holes cut for the handles to come up through.

Pieces of inner tube wired to cover most of the trap.

So, the fun thing is when, in the season coming up, other skunks uncover the trap for you, lol.

I use the smaller 8X8 cages for skunks. I've never had a skunk spray when I use these smaller cages. Someone told me years ago that if a skunk can't get its tail up they're reluctant to spray. Not entirely sure if this is true or not, but its worked for me so far. I just slide the cage into a flip top trash can for transport.
