Found this female hit on the road a couple miles from my house. Surprise for me, I didn’t even know there were red fox in the area. Looks like I have another target species to add to the list
I did take it home and tried skinning, but there were too many rips around the shoulders to be salvageable. Leather looked good though.

We get a lot of roadkill around here. Coon, skunks, possums, deer...even the occasional hawk or ow. Almost never see a fox or coyote.....although there are plenty of them around.

Was wondering if the canines tend to avoid busy paved road crossings......or are just more careful about it.

With what they are giving for reds, I plan on turning them all loose.
Coyotes kill enough of them.

Not sure what part of northern Nevada you are located
Some thick cover, maybe ag fields and water and they seem to be there, Some funky pocklet of reds along the Idaho border

Bob, there are a few reds around but are very scattered. I have caught one in 40 yrs of calling / trapping. I know of a few others that have been caught in your general area. Elko county seems to have a fair number of them. Never know what may show up!
