So I made a K9 lure (my first) with BTO, spoonbill oil, gator tail oil, an aged bobcat meat base, with some added musks etc.. The coyotes really seem to dig it, (pun intended) and I’m beyond thrilled to be catching coyotes on my own lure. The only problem is that as it sits, the beaver tail oil does what beaver tail oil does. It separates distinctly from the rest of my witch’s brew. Is there a secret to keeping it emulsified? Or is it just the nature of the beast? Yes, I can simply shake it up before use, just wondering if there’s a better way.
Thanks,
Matt

Lectin is an emulsifier ive used. Your other option may be to thicken it up so that it's harder for it to separate.

I’ll give the lecithin a try. I made a batch that was significantly thicker, and the BTO still separates from it. Maybe not to the same extent, but definitely still a distinct separation.

plus there are "thickeners" available from JR & Sons and Kaatz bros and several other suppliers.

Sounds like a good lure.

They seem to like it. A very helpful guy from S.E, Kentucky gave me some pointers in formulating it! 👍

I got some lecithin and am adding it a little at a time. Seems to be helping but hasn’t completely fixed it yet.

Matt
