Caught a coon in a pipe dream set. Tore up the area pretty good. Should I move it over a few feet and remake and remake in the same spot and try to blend the catch circle ? -Thanks

Remakes get better and better. I dont think I've ever moved a trap from a catch circle just remade the set. Bait works great for me at remakes. You cannot duplicate that much eye appeal, urine, feces, etc. Walk thru or dirthole are what I remake the set into using same trap and bed. I get lots of coyotes in remakes and especially remakes after other animal catches.
Sometimes ill add a new set nearby.

I switch out the trap and remake on the edge of the circle. I move the pipe also.

Remake into a dirt hole or scent post set and add another Pipe Dream set just outside the catch circle provided theirs cover to hide the pipe.

For me....IT DEPENDS.

Up here in Mud Country, we usually cannot remake the original set with same trap, same bed, same backing, same pipe etc. It's all mud.....

That said, occasionally, I CAN remake it if dry OR if animal wasn't in trap long. I've caught coyotes that on my approach are abnormally NUTS and then I notice little to no burn circle, perhaps the levers are not even all the way up and LOCKED yet even.....and I figure that animal has only been there for an hour or less......it happens.

In the end, IF I can remake it with same trap and bed and backing right there, I will. If not, I do like others and pull the mess and go to the edge of the circle. Now, if I am pulling that location TOMORROW.....AND have other working traps/clean sets there, I might not remake the successful set at all for only one check day.

In the YouTube video of MY Pipe Dream Set.....I express incredulity that I am able to put some of the successful sets back in vs. pulling and making a new set. Just a rare luxury up here.

I’ve tried various things, if I reset the catch circle, I put in a new set nearby, it’s almost always the new set that catches. So that to me says, my catch circles are to muddy and conspicuous. What are these “dry” conditions that people speak of, I’m not familiar with this term when used in conjunction with trapping lol

I am going to try drags this year to preserve my pipe sets, should be able to drop it back in the hole and start over. Sometimes when I work stuff out in my head it differs in real life!!
