I’ve never set for beaver but today I got asked to take a few out of a river because they are cutting down all the trees in a gentleman yard. How do you guys rig the traps? Chain length, how many swivels etc ?

Thanks
Greg

Stock chain and swivels is all I've ever ran on my beaver traps for drowners.I have a few on 10ft chains with extra midline swivels in the stock chain.

Depending on your river and laws, I'd rather run snares on the river. Lost too many CDRs due to floods on mine.

I like two swivels on my beaver footholds and eight inches of chain to the drowning lock. The first swivel with one link between the trap and swivel and the next placed a couple links beyond. This helps to mitigate the wringing of the the front foot.
