Beginner trapper for yotes and kitties, Does anyone have an idea how to address fire ants on bait and scent? Thanks

You might try putting in some 1” pipes. Like Mark Zagger’s pipe dream set. I would think fire ants would be hard on any bait but it might help to put it in the pipe with some sheep’s wool.

Haha! Finally someone who I can relate with. Pipes won’t work with ants either. Just have to wait until it gets cold or stick with flat sets.

Google, premierpestprevention, they list 5 home remedies for getting rid of fireants. You may be able to incorporate some of these into your bait to repel the ants and still keep it attractive to K-9's and cats.

Same boat as you, I normally just wait until it gets cool enough they don't bother my bait. Worse with DP traps for coons too

They come in the drain holes and slots and actually build from underneath to the top. I have to use straight corn until it cools down enough the ants aren’t as active.

I don't have an issue with the ants here, but I've heard of guys using a liquid bait. Supposedly soaks into the soil with no actual bait to carry off.
