Can anyone give me some helpful tips on arc welding base plates, and laminating jaws? I bought a 110V wire feed arc welder and anxious to try it out.

I would practice welding if you've never welded before. Otherwise you could ruin your traps.

I agree. Learn to weld before you start working on your traps.

Not much, I did stick welding in high school metal shop so I know the concept and safety basics but Basically I need to know if this type welder will be sufficient in producing a good strong weld for them

Most any decent 110v welder will do just fine for any traps. What welder do you have?

If done right the welds will be plenty strong. You will get a lot of splatter from that type of machine.

They are waxed, should the wax be removed, or will it just burn away?

they need to be as clean as possible when MiG welding try your hand at welding two like metals together for awhile till you get the hang of it and getting good penetration on welds.
MiG and stick are not the same they each have there own little tricks to them but you have stick welded it should be pretty easy to pick it up and make some fine traps with that 110 mig

clean off as much wax as possible because it can really contaminate your weld. Stick welding aint for everyone but if thats all ya got, keep the arc within 1/8".

I would recommend buying a 110v wire feed flux core welder from harbor freight. I bought one and I can tell you they do a wonderful job. just use it like you would a stuck welder, drag it don't push.
