I've only been trapping for a couple of years and am still just starting out. but I have used DPs before and this year I seem to be catching an awful lot of squirrels in them. I am using some no name dog food for bait in the traps. Anyone else have an issue with squirrels in their DPs and what did you change to avoid catching them? I've been thinking of switching the bait as last year I used a fishy smelling cat food bait and had no squirrels in my traps. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

I always have used a fish bait. Never had a squirrel. I May have to try some corn or nuts and target squirrels. Had never thought about them in dog proofs.

Get caps for your DPs they will keep the rain , mice and squirrels out of your DPs. Check your mail box.

I caught 3 this year using cat food. First time catching them but we had no acorn crop this year.
