Glad your here telling your story 330, seems like a bad situation to get into even tougher getting out of, its good you kept calm and figured out a way out, I actually bought a couple rolls of the flat dog training rope on clearance at TSC and attached 7' to each of my conis as insurance, its always on my mind when setting remote areas

It wasn't a 330, but I caught my thumb in a 160, and the setters were back in the truck. I never go to a conibear set without them now.

My "capture" of myself wasn't a 330 either it was a 24" x 10" custom Belisle 660.


But a 160 , ouch

And I bet we all carry extra clothes in the truck too....for that unexpected dip in the water....

330 I like the strap on your setters. Going to add one tonight to mine thanks for the heads up. Besides a piece of rope I never leave the truck without my safety tool. Last thing I take off a 330.

I got my middle finger caught in the LEVER of a Jake trap,,,not in the jaws but between the lever and the jaw. It was on a short chain that was fastened to a super stake with a quick link and was staked about 16" deep. I didn't have any tool of any kind with me,not even a cell phone. I couldn't get my foot on the end of the lever because of lack of room. I didn't have on a coat and it started raining. I finally managed to dig down with my fingers and get to the quick link and was finally able to loosen the quick link with my fingers and wore the trap back to the house and hunted up my large channel locks and was able to compress the lever enough to get my finger out. I will get caught again but I will never be out of reach of tools of some type. I got in some quick sand almost waist deep and did have my tater rake in my hand and was barely able to reach a bush enough to hook it with the tater rake and pull my self out.

Lanyard, which made of 25' worth of cordage, knife and sheath, light, whistle, compass, butane lighter, fire starter(four cottonballs with petroleum jelly). And duct tape, which comes in handy for repairs, bandaging or mole skin. Hangs around my neck inside my jacket, never know it's there.

Lessons learned old boy.

Got hip boot stuck in deep soft mud at edge of cattails one time. Suction kept it there as i managed my leg out. That boot is still out there

I know what it’s like to forget your setters, luckily I only caught one hand and was able to compress the springs on a 1216 to get out, and it sucked.
