White 17 is right my wife learned from her aunt and grandma but showing and explaining on the computer is tough the book he refers you too is kinda the go to book for people wanting to learn. If you have specific questions feel free to send me a PM we will see if we can help
We get out of life only as much as we really want and work hard enough to achieve

Don't be afraid to try. Just go ahead and do it...after you read that book, it's a good one.
Rumors of my assimilation have been greatly exaggerated.

Just start with lower dollar stuff for your first couple projects, as an old saddle maker told my Dad, “paper is a “heck” of a lot cheaper than leather.” Have an idea on changing a pattern a bit? Great, just mock it up with something cheap before using the knife on that otter pelt....
I use something cheap like felt to try new patterns sometimes.. Have fun!

Wet the leather and pin it out to dry so it will be flat. Don't overstretch. That is called blocking.
Cut the pattern from the leather side with a razor to avoid cutting the actual fur.
Thin skins are easier to stitch. Mrat easier than beaver. Mink easier than otter. Etc.
you can vote your way into socialism, but you will have to shoot your way out.

No kidding....you wouldn’t know it if ya stepped in a shop to buy some fur in town tho! My last beaver I got in fbks was $150+ was it worth it? Maybe not, but I didn’t feel like catching em under all that ice, And waiting on the tanning process. I did pay extra for what I still think is one of the best colored beaver pelts I had ever seen tho, so there’s that.
I made 2 sets of mittens for my kids and their hands were warm and safe at -40, I love that with fur I can make gear warmer than I can buy, and it’s more durable too. Almost can’t put a price on that! Don't count your hours of labor at first tho....it doesn’t pencil out.
This year it’s all about trapping and using the catch at home, and getting the kids their lines set up, and guess who is gearing up for trapping beaver this year?...it’s all about the “experience” right? Won’t try it for money, but I’ll take on the ice to raise the kids In a subsistence style life and make memories.
