I have dyed and waxed these and was told by a person and Minnesota Trapling Products to run them with a 'floppy pan' as in no pan tension. I can't seem to keep them set. Or if I get one set, they are super light, like any vibration while trying to bed them, they trigger. Any advise on working through this would be great. Thanks!

To add to Mousey's question i would ask are there multiple traps with the same tension issue or one you are trying? MB-650's are normally very steady on pan tension out of the box. They can have individuals that need a file drug across a burr or something but it is pretty rare. So I would check these things. 1. Is there wax build up on the night latch setup on the trigger on boths sides? 2. Is there a noticiable burr on either piece? 3. Is the rod that holds the jaw down bent for one reason or another or the tab on the jaw bent? The last being the least likely.

I rarely can keep one set without pan tension. Turn that bolt down a bit.

I would add that i checked a couple and I have pan tension on all of mine. The pans do not just fall.

I just had one myself that evidently I had never set before as it had zero pan tension. Dog gone thing would not stay set even after hitting it with the little butane torch. I gave it 4# of pan tension and it works like it’s supposed to .

This.

Make sure the contact areas are 100% free of wax and put some tension on that screw.650's have a reputation for not liking a light or zero tension.Setup right, they work very well for me,though.
