Going to be setting for bobcats, and trapping low ground between 2 creeks, that has open areas and some have alot of swamp willow. No snow to identify any travel areas. I am able to only take 1 off of public land and 1 on my own property. How far apart would you space your sets, and would you gang set. Having to use either dirt holes, or cubbies, do the exposed bait law in Michigan. And, we cannot use snares on public land.

Trap the high ground in that area, using a cubby set with your bait covered with pine brough, the cat don't have to see the bait just smell it. Put a 2nd set in, like flat set 10 to 15' away from the 1st. set

Either pm rick olson on here or buy his bobcat trapping book. Its perfect for anyone that has cats and deals with cold temps and snow.

I’m watching this thread as well. I drew a 10 year cat tag and planned to run my hounds. However the season starts the day after Christmas and snow doesn’t look promising here.

Pine bow covered walk through cubbies with a foothold on each end and bait in the middle is my plan.

Would beaver castor dirt hole sets work for a cat?

I’ve heard the CD trick before for eye appeal.

Got 7 sets in today after running the line. Used snowshoe hare for bait in the cubbies, and chunks of beaver in the dirt holes. Used turkey feathers for hangers at 4 sets and the tape out of and old cassette for the others (rock & roll). Tomorrow rub sets, using C. Dobbins corn stalk set and some next to old stumps and then some walk thru on Sunday.
