my cousin called asked if I could trap some beavers that was flooding a field. I said well never even tried to trap a beaver before so I talked to my local supply house and asked for advice. caught 2 beaver one 66lbs and one 57lbs. while we was there I set 2 yote sets just dirt holes and also set 2 dps and a coon pvc pocket set with a 1.5coil spring. first check day had a massive coon in a dp and a really nice otter in the pvc pocket set. couldn't believe we caught an otter. also got a muskrat in a bridger #5 lol that was a little overkill. couple of firsts on this first check day never caught an otter or muskrat. so reset and next day had another otter in the same pocket pvc set and also one in a 330 caster mound set. 2 otters on check day 2 and a yote.. the boy has been having a blast. this was a couple weeks ago and I just got our 3 cites tags in the mail yesterday.

first time ever skinning a beaver and im not ashamed to say it took me 1 hour and 45 minutes though did go through a bit of skinning oil. second beaver I did in 30 minutes. all these traps which was 2 dp 1 1.5 coil 2 mb550s 2 330s and a bridger number were within a 100yard stretch of this creek line. we have never caught fur the way we did those first 5 days of setting. heck all the other kids and mama even said dang you guys are killin it this year right out the gate. we also deboned the beaver meat and ground into burger and saved the caster though not sure what to do with the caster. also saved the skulls gonna clean them up with the little man. saved one otter skull other 2 had holes in them. groeny offered him 15 bucks on each otter and they were big and 10 on the beaver so needless to say they are in the freezer and im gonna get them tanned for him.
