Marten and red squirrels, went into their Winnipeg Depo. Followed all the Manitoba regulations of Covid when doing this. files of sales bill need resizing. 2 marten were XL's and one was large Weights were 975 gm, 965 gm and 925 gm. The smaller size one was done on Top Lots forming boards; therefore the narrower nose.

Boco can you not see the maple leaf ? the conversion if for the guys in Alaska to figure their value. the morning light did not show well on the colour er color but they were more pale than brown. The two larger were boarderline Semi to heavy. the smaller one you can see into the tail area so it was a semi I see-I wont be selling to him then.

Nof50-did you have the option to walk when he offered that price? I can see guys keeping the better heavys for auction and selling the semis maybe to them since there is no grade differential. Funny they were not graded/coloured,since there is such a difference in price between wts/colours in the market.

This was the only reason I was going after marten this year. This one female had between 60-70 ticks of the species Ixodes gregsoni. Last year the Virology lab was going to do some testing on them but as we all know C-19 entered into the picture. You can see all 3 life cycles in the bag. Large adults on the bottom, nymphs are the medium size and larvae are the small pin head size with 6 legs. There is no male described in this species so hopefully a nymph will molt into a male adult. Many larvae attach to the tips of the ears and only look like white specks 1mm in size. I am looking forward for the income tax receipt for those specimens as they go to the Entomology museum and the marten to our provincial museum. The squirrels yielded about 100 flea specimens of 8 species

No it is not that tick white17. Ixodes gregsoni there is a manuscript of Ticks of North America one of the authors is Robbin Lindsay or Terry Galloway with the description this was published 2 years ago and is online.
took me a couple of hundred animals to find my first nymphs 5 years ago, then sporadic since then, last year 3 marten had then 15 miles apart. Then this year 2 of 4 animals, with one as a mega load. The National Virology lab was going to run some PCr test on them but c-19 entered the picture last year and now the domestic mink problem has to be dealt with.

There are a LOT of Russian sables held over and a new year's crop being put together right now. Given that about 10% of these were sold at the last big sale in St. Petersburg, and the average was about $60 USD for the biggest, better goods, I can't see anyone putting much into Canadian sables this year. It's probably a good time to buy a freezer (if you can find one).

Stretched and dried marten keep very well in a freezer for quite a while. No fat in the leather so they dont get stale.

So with the various fur buyers making their rounds in Canada has anyone been selling. I heard that BC had a good turn out. TrapperRon can you shed any light on the prices there?
