years ago an experienced trapper told me something about setting a trap and baiting with chicken liver. I cant remember the details but is was something about arranging the bait around the trap and they got so excited that they started stepping all around. anyone ever heard of this?

thanks

Never heard of that but I would Just use the recipe in Nick Wyshinskis bait/ lure making books.

Kind of sounds related to a Compass set.

Livers from any bird or game type animal is going to be attractive to Canines, Bobcats, Mink, Weasel or Raccoons. Whether you taint slightly or use fresh and bloody depends on the furbearer you are targeting. Also adding ground liver from a bird or animal to bait will enhance it. Experiment and use what works in our area.

I've caught coyotes with fresh liver and gizzards down a dirt hole.
