How often will beaver check their dam when the water is iced over? Their hut is a few hundred yards from the dam and have not been by in the last three days.

They were checking it everyday before the ice came

They will swim along the dam under ice-they just dont repair the dam after freeze up.
You can make good sets at the beaver dams after freeze up and before the ice is strong enough to walk on to make sets at the house.
Dam sets after freeze up are best made where the water is always flowing-like on a creek. That way the water keeps flowing and keeps your sets working.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
