Otter are new to me. Last year being my first season trying after them. I trap them like big mink, using the same tactics. So I am wondering are the musk glands as useful as mink glands in lure formulation? I would like to use them in any way I can.

Yep and there is a strong market for them.

Yes..otter glands are excellent in lures, but no so much for otter as they are great for coyotes, cats, and fox.

Save them and freeze them if you want to sell them. I have just drained them in the past for use in lures as there can be a fair bit of musk in a set of glands. I mixed with glycerin and alcohol to preserve them for this. I made a lure using sun rendered otter fat as a base with otter and mink glands added. The sun rendered otter fat was pretty interesting after it was done and strained. When I bottled it, the fat separated into layers (3-5, can't recall for sure). I did some muskrat fat as well and it did the same thing, however the fat layers were different than the otter.
