I’m trapping a pond for a guy and the beaver keep plugging up his spillway pipe. He’s got it dug out and every night they come back and cover it up again. I’ve set two 330’s side by side in the ditch he cut leading to the pipe and one of them had been set off two nights in a row, I assume they are setting it off when they swim up with debris. I’ve caught two at a castor mound drowning set. Is there a better way I should be setting up this pipe here is a couple of pics

I have no problems with snapped traps when the traps are set further out from the break, off bottom with some fencing. You can set 2 or 3 traps to minimize the fencing and maximize catches on an extended check.
That said, now that they know what conibears are,you may have better luck with footholds.

I prefer to have the trap fully submerged in a situation like you have with a dive stick over the trap and blocked off good on the sides. The beaver may check it out and get caught before they start hauling in debris.

Two foot holds on separate drown rods spaced about the width of the pipe with a sturdy dead vertical stick between them to guide the beaver may be your best bet at this point.

Might let them plug it like they want which would put your traps submerged like quiet said then a dive stick and some castor based lure and a shiney stick to make em think another beavers been in there. Then pull out debris after you catch them.

I might try and dig it out deeper tomorow and give the submerged 330’s a try and if that doesn’t work I will try the drowning rod set up. Thank you guys

A 12" wide 36" long +/- cage set in front of that pipe will catch him.

Make your own slides on both sides of the pond
Use lures on Western shore and set eastern shore blind.
Footholds or well blended 330’s.
Floating log set with snares.

I am intrigued with the thought of catching one in a cage trap, I don’t have many beaver sized footholds at this point, but I might move some of them from different locations to the pipe. I’ve never used snares but I’d like to try some next season

Footholds will be more efficient here. Beaver is carrying debis that's firing the bodygrips.
