Has anybody here heard of a new trap called the “gotcha” wolf trap?

I don't believe it exists. There's a group called Wolf Trap, and a Google search won't pull up anything other than that and some psychological studies.

Rosscoak sent me a screenshot of the gotcha wolf trap. The guy who makes them does not have a site, but is on FB.

I saw the same thing. They appear to me like a re-worked TS-85, with some parts or copies of MB750's.
The OP didn't respond to multiple inquiries.

Charlie sent me one a few weeks ago. He said I had to test it and not put it in my collection. I planted it 3 days ago and we'll see if I can put a wolf in it.

I dont like the unprotected springs. The Brawn is built like that and Ive had trouble with them.

I know a few guys who run Gotcha traps from Charlie and they all speak very highly of them. There is reportedly a gotcha Coyote in the works as well.

Charlie Fite is the maker of them.
Good wolfer, knows his stuff.
I like his design. Be fun to try one someday.

@ YUKON254:
What exact challenges did you face with the Brawn?

Looks a lot like a bigger version of a 750, with wire levers. Looks like a pretty good trap.

Wire levers could be a problem, and the nock-off MB trigger/dog will be prone to freezing down.
The Brawn trap is WAY too heavy! The bulk is almost ridiculous, and un-necessary. That alone creates problems discussed by pm only.

You can buy the Brawn springs easily, and I suspect that is what is on that trap. I also don't care for the 750esque trigger system. A regular dog on or standard dogless design have a lot less to freeze up. I've seen a guy show that these have a solid bottom to help with freezing down. No doubt it will help with freezing down when set in wet snow or dirt, but it will also catch water coming down from above when it rains or snow melts, making freezing worse then.

Wolfdog, have wolves made it all the way to Mississippi already? grin

Why don't you head north for a bit, and put those traps to use? You could make that happen.

Nope from what im seeing all this is custom made for him. Dude even bends the jaws on a press after their cnc cut.

Actually think the Andy wiesner's pictures. The trap was build by a Montana wolf trapper for his needs and seems everyone who used it loves em but mainly think most if those guys are from there and the surrounding states.

We hardly ever get snow in SE Alaska anymore; or at least it doesn't last very long when we do get it. Plenty of wolves too.
