Anyone use larger pans on your beaver traps? Is it worth it to look into doing?

Absolutely not. If I were going to change the pan, I'd go smaller. The trap needs to fire when that big back foot is between the jaws, not on the jaw and pan at the same time.

I’ve seen a few old longsprings where the old timers cut the pan down to about a half inch wide and an inch or so long, I’m betting that beavers getting toe caught was what made em do it. Small pan and heavy pan tension is best IMO, that way you’re sure to get ahold of it solid.

I have considered using expanded pans on coyote and cat traps though.
