I’ve only used the no bs, we had a gift card to no bs so we bought 2 of the no bs beaver traps, first time we’ve used coil spring on beaver. We pulled 3 of our 5 beaver from one pond with this trap, an otter from another pond, and 2 beaver and an otter from the pond I’m trapping now. Never used the mb750, but I’m sure it’s a great trap, we like the mb550’s and the folks at MTP are great!

I've used the MB750 with good luck. But I've read the NO BS beaver trap is a really really stiff competition

750s are good traps....had over 2 dozen at one time. But the NoBS beaver trap is the cadillac of beaver footholds. I have 6 of em and they have every feature you could want in a beaver foothold. If I need more beaver traps it will be the NoBS's.

I caught beaver with the MB 750 until I tried the NO BS Beaver Extreme. My 750s are retired now, never use them anymore. If I am setting a foot hold for beaver, it is the NO BS Beaver Extreme. They are built like a tank, simple and do not require tinkering to keep consistent and hold whatever steps in them. And a big bonus.....I do not need setters for them either.

I've never owned the MB 750 but went with the NO BS Beaver trap because many who owned both said they preferred the NO BS. I'm very happy with them. I do like the wide levers on the NO BS, the free jaw, and can set easily without setters.

That's right and I've read it will last 2 or 3 season before needing to be redone

You must have arms the size of Popeyes. I cant budge the levers by hand, and the levers barely move if i stand on them. You cant go wrong with either trap, but for me I need setters for both of them.

It's all about technique. I've seen a picture of QBD. He's not a big guy and I believe he's in his 70's. I'm 5'6" and 150 lbs. I have no problems compressing the springs with my feet. .

Their front feet only get so big..... unlike your overgrown clods! wink

Seriously, if I were to buy new beaver traps knowing what I know now I would but the MB750’s, with Dave’s setters. I currently run the TS85’s because I love the loose jaw and smashing the levers is relatively easy for me.

Thanks silky! I am not that big and definitely do not have the strength I once had. And you are correct, I am 75. I used setters when I used MB 750s. No way I could do those short levers. But I do not have any problem setting the Beaver Extremes and removing them from catches by hand. I do not set them over my knee. I set them on the ground and push the levers down with my hands. To remove catches, I hook my fingers over the levers and pull them down.

When talking about coil springs, I have had 750's, CDR's and the Beaver Extremes. The CDR's are a great beaver trap, but I cannot set them without a setter. I can set the extremes easer than a CDR and if I have to without a setter. I really like the dogless better than the dog on type.
I have 6 doz extremes and use the, almost daily. I take a couple of weeks off every year. This is how I make my living, if they did not catch I would not use them.
Dang good trap at a good price. If you are in salty type water replace the pan bolt with a SS steel bolt.
