It looks like I can kiss my traps good bye for a while here in cent MN. Freezing rain has started to be followed by 6-10 inches of snow then more freezing rain. Next comes the bitter cold to lock it all in. Might be grabbing the snowshoes and snares sooner than I thought

I don’t know how you guys do it! I’d screw in the ground if I couldn’t trap all winter. My hats off

Time to get innovative! Snares are the ticket I spose!

I’ve been dealing with a lot of freeze/thaw/snow/freezing rain here lately. Sure makes it tough to keep traps working. I missed several coyotes due to froze down traps. Looks like the weather will be evening out here the next couple weeks. I scouted some new territory that looks good so I’m gonna get it set up probably Saturday. I’ve got 9 sets still working but I pulled most of my sets today to move em. Taking them down to the lower elevations before they get snowed in, I don’t have a snow machine so once the snow piles up on top of the mountains I move down to the foothills. I think the coyotes do the same.

Put out one new set and several snares today. Managed to find some ground that wasn't harder than Chinese algebra and managed to chisel in a set. Found several trails coming off the river bottom where the yotes where chasing deer. Hope to catch a few more before their fur breaks down. Predicting another inch of snow for Sunday. Would like to get a few more sets out for cats and dogs tomorrow.

Knap, it will put 5 in your pinky nail @ 100. We call it a clover leaf shooter. I've taken many prairie dogs out at the 400yd mark. Match the gun to the right handload and you have a winner.
