True.
Regarding non-Belisles, I've heard there's ways to improve safeties, such as twisting some wire around each side of the safeties, to make them a little more like the Belisle.

I've seen that as well, its a fantastic idea.

That spring strength transfers to the trigger and I prefer weaker springs when working with Mink as the intended target. They are just too crazy strong I think.

The weakest link of the Belisle traps are the cheap arse dogs.....keep an eye on them....then squeeze them shut with a pair of vise grips. [Linked Image]

I caught an attic coon in a belisle 160 by two toes. It chewed every chunk of wood it could reach, but was hanging dead when I got there. I knew right then I didn't want my fingers in it.

I got caught by a 280 belisle across the base of the thumb nail the other day. I thought I had the safeties on and was releasing the jaws to move the trap to a new spot. When I flipped the dog off, WHAM. One spring was all it took. There's no yanking your thumb out like a duke will let you. Apparently I did not have the safety swung all the way over.

Today I had a 220 and a 280 belisle empty. Pretty sure it was ice chunks flowing down the creek that set them off. Was real careful resetting them.

That’s macho. I wore one and didn’t think to take a photograph at the time. I will certainly have more opportunities.

This is what I thought as well.

Belisle 330 club member here. Had one across the toes ofmy boot. Was able to get my foot out of the boot but had a purple toe nail for months.

I'm itchin' to see a coyote twitchin'.

More trappin' and less yappin'.
