I got some from BMI this year.(160) double spring. They make single spring also but it is only $11 more for the double. I believe they also make a single spring 5×5. They are not easy to get a hold of but great people to work with. bmitraps@att.net 216.761.8800. They are also cheaper than Duke or Bridger. I believe $79/doz single spring $90 /doz double

seen quite a few duke 160 springs for sale on here so thats the route most take bmi's are great traps but it may take awhile to get them the 155' wolf creeks i bought have a fairly decent trigger with long wires so you can bend anything you want springs are strong with out of round eyes if you swivel the springs downward a little they set easy expect the single spring to be the same

So whats your reasoning for going to a 150 sized trap?

So whats your reasoning for going to a 150 sized trap? I have a hodgepodge of 110 sized traps and want to standardize what I have so I thought I would just go with the 150 size. I also want a bunch of 6x6 and found the Bridger 159 to be way too stout for a straight muskrat trap. I plan to end up with about 75% 6x6 and 25% 5x5.

I've caught a lot of rats In 160 sized BGs and I'm not seeing where they are too much of a trap for rats. When I standardized I went to 100% Duke 160s and I'm happy with that choice. Know maybe If I was a marten trapper I might consider using the 155 sized trap.

Nothwoods also has one, but a bit pricey for me. Cheaper to get used 155's if you can, remove one spring(resell them on eBay). I have trouble with bridgers being hard to keep set(otherwise a flawless rat trap for me.
160's same advise. The 6x6 size is an advantage for covering large dens/runs but my converted Dukes don't seem to close tight enough to hold every rat going thru them. Have at least 1 in ten get most of the way thru them before triggering and the not complete closure of them let the rat wiggle out(have actually seen it). As I got several dozen used at a "steal" price I don't plan to replace them for just this. This size is my fav for baited trigger trapping.

drakej,,,on the duke 160s, have you tried bending the jaws in a bit, so they close tighter? insert a broom stick between the jaws all the way to the jaw hinge, propping the jaws open, then squeeze the jaws together a bit. depending on the size of the spring eyes, this might give you enough of a "hit" to stun the rat, or enough closure to eliminate your losses. just a thought.

Thanks Fossil2, I will for sure try it. Am I correct in thinking the Jaws will then be slightly curved inward(tighter in center than corners)(the opposite of when mis shapes after closing on a hard object). I'm sure both springs on would close trap faster and tighter in soft run and veg I just don't like dealing with the floppy spring(just me). I'm also sure their are tighter closing 6x6's but missing a few smaller mrats doesn't offset what I paid for a couple of Lg milk crates of the used Dukes I got at an auction($2.50 ea. - the extra springs sold on eBay for $1.50 ea). I'll buy $1.00 160's any day.

Are there any single spring 5x5 besides the Bridger #150? I see Duke has a #155 double spring. I am looking for a couple dozen and really didn't like the small spring eye on the #150.
I was also looking for some 6x6 other than the #159. Those are built way too stout for a muskrat trap so I am looking at buying #160 Dukes and removing a spring but would rather just get a single spring #`160 right out of the box.
Thanks, I had a muskrat in a 220 Belisle he was fine. The Bridger will be fine
