Lovage is a good ingredient in powder or tinctured form. The powder is really nice to work with and will spice up any lure or bait. Go a little at a time like tonquin musk for the right amount.

How much are we talking about, when we say 'a little.' An ounce? 1/8th ounce?

Amounts vary when building a product to your satisfaction of odor and animal response. There are no formulas of use per se per volume of material. Like I stated add a small amount at first, mix well, let it set for a few days and get back to it and see if you can detect the slightest hint of its presence. Test the product in the field to see if it needs any adjustments.

This ingredient is not a quick acting ingredient. Like many ingredients it must work through your material over time to become part of your bait/lure.

OK, thanks for the tip!

Anthony, there are many variables that affect amounts of oils needed, like, ,,, what meat?, ........tainted?....how much?......what else is already added?

Most baits and lures take a year (or more) to ready, unless a bait solution is used, where all those variables have been figured out.

I'm aging some different fresh meat baits and tainted meat baits with 3 different bait solutions, Dobbins, Dulap, and my own. Been about four months Just gave them a sniff test this week. Some seem to be changing and mellowing out while others are getting a more distinct smell of one additive or another. It does take a while for the bait to come into its own. I've tested most with good results just after I made it and will test again starting next week
