Bait Solutions are what you are looking for , or just Sodium Benzoate.
Some solutions already have SB and others do not.
Ask the maker/seller, so you know whether to buy SB too.
These solutions have been tested for decades and make bait making a breeze.
To do it now you'd be wise to have a hot box. a dead freezer, or just make one outa old plywood laying around, to put a light bulb in to heat it.
Heat is needed for it to gas off thru the one way vent. It lets gas out, but keeps insects out.
If insects get in, it'll turn to mush.
