My brother caught this yote and brought it to me to try to put up but I noticed the belly was bare and Calais. What causes this? It was a big female could it be from rearing pups?

I have had some bald patches like that before above the tail on the hind quarters and I'm fairly sure that is mange. None the less, it's not anything I would skin out or mess around with. Not worth the infection risk for what it's worth in experience.

Rub it on your head and see what happens. It’s the only way to tel if it’s contagious or not

If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

Sarcroptic Mange is very contagious. Don't let your pets near it. Put the rubber gloves on and drag it out into the field, pour gas on it and burn it.

No expert but I would guess has more to do with raising pups

Maybe mastitis in the past?

Looks like patches of hairless skin are around mammary glands

But like I said, not an expert

I got one like that the 3rd week of November. The rest of the fur looked great. It wasn’t flat. No sign of mites. No other signs of mange anywhere. We’ll see how it sells. Might even get $5 for it.

I don’t know what’s wrong with it but I’d bury it before whatever it is had a chance to spread. No way I’d put up a coyote like that, especially not a southern coyote. It’s worthless

Maybe it was shaved before it had surgery? grin

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

The pink helps us know it is a mange survivor. Pink bellies are common on mange survivors.
Probably no active mites on it now.

And the species and genus of the canine mange only infects humans (when it does) about a week or so.

No, mites can't live more than about a week on humans. Species specific means only on that species will it survive.
