Will I think I am going to pass on the RV idea. I have lived in apartments my whole life. With these bad knees Don’t think I would be able to keep up with things that go along with one. I would only move it 2x a year but still I think it will be to much for me. The $110,000.00 plus if i buy new would be a bad discussion if I hated it. I think it will be much cheaper to rent 2 places. Rent is still cheap in ND In summer months , Nevada or Utah or AZ In winter not so much. Thanks for all the GOOD feed back guys. MD A paid for house gives you options and you could rent it out if you rent somewhere else. The 100k to 150k you mentioned spending on the RV would get you a nice house in many towns, unlike the RV though it would hold and increase its value.

Please, dont be stupid and sell your primary residence Couldn't agree more. My mom sold her house when she was 65 years old for $69,000. She frittered away all of it over the last 30 years, she's now in her 90's and broke. The house she sold 30 years ago would now sell for about $650,000 (Seattle market).

I retire in 8 years. We're planning on selling our house, buying an RV and spending a year seeing the country. After that, we'll decide where we want to live (not NJ) and buy or build a house there.

After my divorce back in the 80's I lived in a wall tent,Dry docked boat, and a used 26' camper trailer. Then bought a better camper trailed 28'
Bought my house back off of the X 8 years ago. Love the house.

This guy lived in Michigan last winter, came through here this spring. I bought him breakfast one Sunday morning, to go on account of corona. He's happy as a clam, and doing this way for 20+ yrs. Has little solar panels for his phone, light and heat. Hey dkrug - what are we looking at here? Thanks.

There are a lot of them like this in LA, Ca.. Don't see many that can take the cold like Robert!

Enjoyed dinner and live music on a Friday evening. Great time.

Retirement isn't always what it's cracked up to be. An older guy that worked in a plant that I delivered to, told me he couldn't wait to retire. When he finally got there, he sold his house and bought an RV and a nice boat. He and his wife were ready for the good life! They took off and went to see one of their kids. After 3 or 4 days, they realized they were kind of in the way. The kids had jobs and PTA meetings and ballgames and a life of their own. He then went to visit another one of his children and it turned into the same thing. He said I called my buddies to go fishing with me, but they were working and didn't have time for it. Said it's not much fun fishing alone. So he and his wife made a circle of the USA in the RV. He told me he went back home, bought a house, sold the RV & boat, and he and his wife went back to work. Happier now than they have ever been! Some people are more content to work till they drop and they should do what makes them happy. I for one loved my job but retired early mid fifties and did what my passion was. I log in over 320 days of the year fishing, trapping, hunting, hiking the back country and spending time in the outdoors at the Ranch. If a person can't handle retirement they may never had a life beyond their work or career. Life is only so many days for each of us and health only lasts so long and for me I was going to spend every last breath doing what I want to when I wake up in the morning. I for one wouldn't be excited about living in an RV for more then a week and I have during elk season. Just not for me.
Give me a fish, I will eat for a day. Teach me to fish, I will eat for a lifetime

Been there Done that. Don't do it!! Worst investment you will ever make and it is not a cheap way to live. Don't do it!!
Presently in Calf most of the RVs you see parked on the side of the road are meth labs and druggies.
