We were contacted by a fella whose HOA has some beaver there wanting trapped. I haven’t looked at it yet but am interested if for no other reason than to get our name out there. How do you guys go about charging for this kind of work?

$75 per beaver, $.45 per km,and $50 to open the dam under mutual agreement.
Make sure you carry 3rd party liability insurance when doing beaver work.

Many businesses and HOA’s require insurance to work for them.

25.00 set up fee, 75.00 per head trapped. And if it's alot of beaver I throw out a free follow up after 30 day's of pulling traps.
I also keep cell phone picture of trapped beaver ( proof of kill).
And I tell them I don't open dam's, they can find some one else to do that.
Most people around here call excavator in first they work for free right laugh

I'm covered as far liability, and licensed trapper.
But I am also licensed independent contractor.
Also hold to your price, I think I'm under priced.
But it's not my bread and butter.
I got a good job.
I'm priced between to much and not enough right laugh

We do beaver work for logging companys, power companys, local roads boards,Hyway contractors etc.
These people require that you have 3rd party liability coverage to protect their intrests. For quite a few years it was 2 million, but a couple years ago the power company insisted on 5 million coverage.
We are automatically covered by our provincial trapping organization. The insurance is included in our membership dues.It covers all nuisance work, and also coverage for the councils when we hold workshops on rented premesis etc.Our federation was able to negotiate with our insurance provider for 5 million with no increase to our membership dues.
I guess you can do nuisance work without 3rd party liability coverage as long as the persons/companys you are contracted with assume their own liability for anything that may go wrong when you are trapping for them under contract.

Third-party liability coverage is the portion of an insurance policy that protects you if you’re sued (or threatened to be sued) for a physical injury or damage to someone else’s property.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

If I can’t put em off till season, I’ll charge by the hour and charge enough to cover gas and all. My time has a value and how many beavers made a home in his ditch isn’t going to determine what that value is or more often than not, how many educated beaver the landowners’ cousins’ brothers’ uncle left after knocking all the cream off the top. Cleaning up the last few can take a lot of time and having to go behind someone else just plain sucks.

Edit- I’m not in the ADC business and have no desire to be. I’m a fur trapper and run pretty hard at that. Just wanted to pass along something I learned the HARD way.
