First day at a guy I work withs place. Target his problem beaver.

I only set 3 330s and one caster mound set due to time limitations. I poked in 2 coyote sets on the way out that caused... well I took the speed limits on the way to work as suggestions.

First days check started great. First 330 had a perfect behind the neck caught 42 lb beaver. I had my first ever miss in a 330 that was fired with nothing in it.

I walked the property poped in another k9 set, pulled the fired 330 and dropped in a bridger #5 in its place garding the crossover and added a snair I on up further. I added another caster mound on that end of the lake as well. Figured to change it up and maybe get that no educated beaver.

I moved the 330 to the other side of the crossover that had the beaver and added a snair in another slide.

I caught my right hand in the brigdger #5 and not to be out done my left in a bridger 2 dogs. Did I just admit to that?

The property owner called me while I was on the way home to talk about the beaver. Then He switched to worring about the neighbors dog getting into a k9 set. I suggested I just go back and pull the set so turned around went back and pulled them. I wish he would have been concerned before he told me to set them. I wouldn't have wasted the time walking the property or setting them.

I don't think I will be traping ther more than 2 more days. I planed a few 3 day checks when in the area but I showed him what to do and will get what I can. He can get the rest.

I turned down 4 hrs overtime for 3 days so I only worked 12hrs to have time to check traps becuse I told him I would help him out . So $390 losses to my pocket. But since I have no freezer space or time due to working I sold the beaver in the round for 30c per lb so $9.60 so there is that wink

Kayaks can't hold much and are hard to set from but sure are easy to transport and pack.

I'm looking forward to see what the traps have this morning.

Run into that alot. Deer hunters want to get rid of the coyotes then don't want you to scare off their deer by do so. Some days you just can't win.

One time a guy who owned a lot of marsh land asked me to come in and thin out the beaver. Set up with a bunch of 330's. The next day I had 3, one about a 50 pounder. I called him that night and told him how happy I was to take 3 and that I had reset all my traps. He got kind of nervous and said his whole marsh complex depended upon the beaver dams and that I should be very careful to not take too many. Went in the next day and got 1 more and pulled all my traps. He wound up keeping the only really nice one and having it mounted so I wound up with very little for my efforts.

I caught a kit this morning on the caster mound I put in just down from the 330 that was fired. It was the one I missed judging by its tail it was tail caught. It feels good knowing I took out the now educated beaver. I also had one snair knocked down I had to reset. I dropped in a mb750 in that crossover trying to up my chances for the morning.

I skinned that one and kept its caster glands and quarters and back strip becuse my wife said all 3 of the kids were wanting to try beaver. I'm looking forward to it myself my wife not so much but will cook and try it.

That was my first beaver caught on Mr, Dobbins Backbreaker. First night catch on a beaver snapped the day before 10" from wher he was snapped. Works great.
