I barter whenever I can.

Last fall I built this roof over an existing deck at a hunting camp. It took me four days, they supplied the materials.




In return I was given a large walnut tree they had cut down a few months prior. Here it is sawn and stickered at my place.



There is about 1,200 board feet, mostly 10/4, the rest is 5/4. Air-dried 10/4 black walnut is averaging about $15.00 a board foot.

I think it was a good barter.

I do this quite regularly with my products to get more inventory with fur pelts and snake skins and beaver tails when people have the quality I'm looking for.

It's been quite satisfying for me knowing most people on here are quite honest and we all try to keep things equal in our trade.

Yep, I barter whenever possible. Especially with homemade goods or rendezvous related stuff.

I do it some times when trapping for people, always try if they got old chevy pickup parts.
Swapped a guy for a set of new pickup tires, I had a fuel tank and hand pump he wanted.

I've doing a 5 ac.remote boundary survey this spring in exchange for a 10 day successful moose hunt. I'll be doing the survey in late spring. It'd be a shame if I had to kill a grizzly in self defense.

I like dealing with hutterites, everything is a secret and always look around like some one is watching. Lol
They sure end up with alot of different kinds of traps " they were trasppassing" they tell me.

I used to a lot of bartering, got away from it a few years ago. Now I am about to start again. I see it as possibly the only way to survive before long.

I barter with the Amish here all the time. Last deal was they cut my basswood logs and I do some welding.
