So I’ve never targeted weasels but I’m making a trip to the yoop soon for about a week so I figured I would make some weasel boxes to throw out while I’m trapping for everything else my questions are what do you like better rat traps or footholds for the boxes? And secondly what should I look for? I’ve heard culverts and rock piles but there’s not much of that where I will be mostly evergreen Forrest cedar swamps stuff like that

Ok thanks guys I have a few spots in mind I’ll probably just set a box out every time I make a cat set by old beaver dams and by the rabbit tracks

I prefer Rat Traps. But if you use a 1-1/2 long spring be sure to secure the trap well, a bobcat or even a coon during a warm spell could reach in a weasel box. Check all the areas mentioned for tracks. They are a neat little critter, good luck!

Weasels have a very small home range, just look for tracks in the snow and set an edge .

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I’m not too familiar with weasel tracks because they’re not as prevalent down here, do they just look like smaller mink tracks?

First pictures shows a row of tracks and a hole in the snow where he tunnel out. Second picture is a closer look at weasel tracks. Hope this helps some, basically they are kinda a smaller version of mink tracks.

I use big pan Victor rat snap traps. They dont last long in them. If you find tracks set near by.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.
