A good ball joint press and heat. I'm using an Astro pneumatic 7897 press, but I'm scared to use heat. Will it weaken or make the steel in the lower control arm brittle?

Never in my career have I had to use a pickle fork. I hate those things. They tear up the boot, so they're nogood to use if you're just unbolting the ball joint for some other suspension work. I've only had to use a ball joint press a couple times. Just hit the control arm where the taper of the ball joint goes in with a big hammer. Might take a few whacks, but it'll come out.

A good ball joint press and heat. Trapper5123 you were correct. A little heat and the press walked it right out. Thank you!

Not trying to be a smart-(This word is unacceptable on Trapperman), but are you sure there isn't a retaining clip somewhere? I know when I get stuck on a problem, it's usually the simplest answer... I have done quite a few of these, there is no retaining clip, it was just seriously stuck.

Too bad they dont sell the whole arm. Thats how my yukon was. Heat wont hurt it as long as you be careful. And tap on the sides of the arm like loose goose said. And if thats the ball joint for that location are u pushing it the wrong way? Its hard to tell from the pic. maybe im wrong. Positive Im pushing it the right way. It was just seriously stuck, a little heat and she came right out.
