Definitely not a coon trap. Nowhere near strong enough to dispatch coons or even hold them if they are bigger than pups.

110 no! Our coons are not as big as other places and I’ve found 160 will work. 220 preferred.

Never intentionally. I've caught several on accident in mink sets and they never moved.

110s just aren’t enough for coon. I’d trust a 120 to kill them stone dead if it’d catch them far enough back, but with that small amount of jaw space, I’d expect too many problems (avoidance/climb overs) to use them intentionally for coon.

For me, 160s and 220s are coon body grips.

Some big coon in ND/SD. Couldnt imagine a 110 putting down a big boar. Maybe the young of the year, but still I would think it would be difficult to get them to stick their head through.

Save up some change and buy a 220 or two. Maybe even find some used somewhere for even cheaper.

I asked a similar question a while back. But I was wondering if a coon stuck his head in a mink box, that had a 110, would the 110 kill him. Turns out it's illegal to use 110s for mink in Canada, so I scrapped the idea of using 110s on the mink boxes.
Now I will be using at least 120s on my mink boxes.

I would never suggest using a 110 or 120 to specifically target coon. While 110s may dispatch coons sometimes, it's certainly not the right tool for the job.
Get yourself some 160s or 220s if you want coon, and save your 110s for water sets targetting mink and muskrats.

I'd say 160's are the smallest BG I'd set for coon....and trappers in WI use 160's on dry ground because that's your law, give the choice I'd bet you all would use 220's.

They are not legal for marten in Canada. If they were I would still not use them for marten as many fisher are caught in marten sets. And a 110 is not strong enough to provide an efficient humane dispatch on fisher.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

I got a big one a few weeks ago that probably couldn't fit his head in a 110 LOL
