I catch a few otter but I’m no expert. I have a rip rap shoreline to trap. Otter have a cross over but it disappears on my side. Only option is the open water in front of the rip rap. Any ideas? Bucket set? Sassy shad on 330 trigger?
Big lake but only have access to it here. Plenty of otter. Caught my five in six nights last year in the spillway. It’s not an option this year.

In rocky situations I have had good success with the KB stabilizers if that is an option. You can stabilize a conibear on a sidewalk with the KB's.

The submerged white bucket set could be an option if the water is clear enough. Fish tied to a rock in the bucket with conibear in mouth of bucket. This is typically an under ice set/

I’d probably try to make a “cubby” with the rocks and put bait in there and use a foothold or conidbear at the entrance

Like above a KB stabilizer for rocky bottom. If there's a long branch, log, or fallen tree in the water sticking a trap under it where stuff is swimming under is a good bet. I've done that as a blind set or with lure above.

Any points of land out into the lake? A conibear there will work as otter like to hug such spots when they swim thru.

So is there a defined spot or spots where the otter cross? If so make up some small sand bags and place them under water at these cross overs and then place your foot hold trap on that bag. Those bags will allow you to bed your trap In these rocky conditions. Just wiggle that trap down Into the bag surface.

Thank guys! I’ll give some of these ideas a shot.
Beav it’s weird. The trail comes up the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) from the spillway then disappears on the lake side. They just seem to go wherever they want on that rip rap.

Give them a reason to go someplace. Maybe some trailing scent would funnel them Into one spot.

It`s probably to far or to hard, but where the trail ends coming toward the rip rap,if you make a trail from where it ends to the water I bet they would use it.

Had a 50lbplus beaver and a rat this morning. No otter. But no new fresh otter sign either. Rat in a edjucated guess where they were entering the water on the rip rap. The beaver in a kind of bottom edge set along the rip rap.
