I want to tan a fox. All I have is coyote stretchers. Could I use a coyote stretcher for a fox?

Kevin, a fox stretcher is six inches at the shoulders and six and a half at the bottom. Coyote board is gonna be awful wide. The initial stretch is kinda important, because even after the tanning, they want to return to that shape. I'd try to find or build a board the right size.

Lee, I will disagree with you about a mis-stretched Hide retaining it’s shape after tanning. I’ve bought wolves in Canada that were stretched short and wide, about 2 feet wide at the hips. They are normal wolf length and width after tanning.

Same applies to raccoon and bobcat.

I have adjustable coyote stretchers. Could I adjust them down to 6 inches? I'm glad I could help to two on agreeing on something.

FCOL,just go get an old fence board and take 20 minutes to make a fox stretcher.

Are you going to home tan It? If so just scrape the hide and tan It no reason to board It and dry It. If you cant get at It right away just roll up the scraped hide and freeze It.

Then what I would do Is call the place where you are sending It and ask them what your options are.
