I didn't have any waxed dirt available and instead used a mixture of propylene glycol and water as antifreeze for several sets I have out right now. Basically sprayed it in layers as I made the sets. I put them out last Saturday and so far they seem to be going strong. So far I've picked up a raccoon and opossum and would like to run this line for maybe another week or two. There's been frost in the mornings but we really haven't had any deep freeze yet here in southern PA. I am wondering how long these sets might last and when I should think about either resetting, or applying more antifreeze. If more antifreeze, would just spaying the surface work, or should I dig the traps up and reapply the antifreeze in layers as I did when I made the sets? Thanks.

By the way, I am new to this forum and to trapping. Just got into it this year, sorry if this is a dumb question.

Not a dump question, welcome to the forum!

I usually test a few sets and see if they fire. If there are any issues, dig them all back out and remake the set.

Welcome.... a strategy some guys use is to mix in fox or coyote urine with their anti freeze and spray the whole set area down. Since you are EXPERIMENTING figured to add that for you to try. Good luck!
