I have not got my bridger no1s yet but that chain in the pics looks a lot cheaper then the duke no1 chain.I assume its a copy of the Northwoods but it looks like they changed the pan so why not the chain? What size ,hardware and length of chain would you replace it with. using them for mink, coon, rats on rocky mountain creeks staking solid and drowner rigs?

330 Belisle, Do you recommend the #2 chain size for the extra drowning weight? Just trying to learn, thanks.

I have a dozen of the Bridger #1 CS. They are some strong little buggers. I had to get a setter from Dave Sheldon. My arthritic hands just couldn't get it done. The chain that came on them had to go. I felt it was just too light. Replaced it with 12 inches of #2 straight link a swivel and 12 more inches of #2. Now I have some decent weight to drown rats and mink. I support them on 3/8 rods and HagZ clips but stake them with T stakes in deeper water. They have worked very well on rats and mink as well as some coon. The only other mod was I night latched them, but I'm looking at replacing the pans with pans for a 1 1/2 for a larger kill zone. IMHO they are a great trap, lots better than a #1 LS as they will bed into a smaller space for pocket sets. The coon I have taken with them have been perfect catches, not too high on the leg just above the pads.

I will add the dog on a #1 duke is pretty long and ive had to rebend a few after coon catches. But same on the bridger dog too. Rats and mink of course no problemo but a good boar coon if not drowned in. #1 coil can be hard on dogs and pans.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
