Hey guys, is there any difference in setting at the upper and lower end of the dam? I always set the crossovers at the bottom, but when that’s not an option, will the top work as well? I’m using 330s. Normally I just throw a 330 at the bottom with a dive stick ( 330s must be completely submerged here). Will this work at the top end of the dam just as well? Thanks.

If the spot works out it does. Footholds and snares work too. You can usually see or feel the backfoot landing spot for footholds.

You betcha! For your divers & guides above the dam try to use dead stuff so the beavs are less likely to try to run off with your sticks. Some places can be a booger to set up with the cross over being the only good set & throw in nutria around here to plug up the traps, sometimes I've put in 3 coni's. 1 above & 2 below.
Good luck!

you are really handicapping yourself by not using footholds at dam break sets IME
1 set is the put the 330 perpendicular to the dam tween 2 breaks, so it wants to go thru 330 when done repairing 1 break and going to the other.
you could put 2 330's tween 3 breaks too.

BUT 330's can work above or below when blended well
