Anybody got a lead on a 70’s model Ford 4x4. I’d prefer a standard transmission and something in the 77-79 year range. I need something close to southern Ohio. Not looking for a show truck or anything fancy. Just a decent truck.

I had one two. It was a long bed and a 460. Pass everything but a gas station. I still got the motor out of it. The truck just rusted apart.

Have a 79 f 250 custom with 300 six cylinder 4 on the floor 4x4 with 36 inch tires on it with 5+ inch lift on it duel tanks in southern indiana sounds pretty good don't it. here is the bad news it has not run in over twenty year windshields is craked drivers side window shattered but in tacked cab is rusted pretty bad in all the spots and above the driver side door to frame still good axels were rebuilt resent before being parked 20 years ago engine still free with a blowed head gasket in between cylinders radiator still good with antifreeze in it needs front grill some trim two new pieces of glass some new wires belts hoses tires and a tune up kit some body filler and here is the best part of all the radio still works and the wipers to that has to be the deal breaker watch out getting in the passenger side you have automatic feet cooling air condtioning some sheet metal would take care of that no problem that is about it. asking $60,000 no offers and no pics you show up and load it and I will throw in a victor 110 conibear and a oil filter.lol That’s not a bad deal at all.

Just buy a new truck. If it don't run, Loosegoose can fix it for you. He's a bona fide parts swapping "Technician" don't ya know.

Good luck with that search. I've kept my eyes open for a 78-79 shortbed for years. When you find one that has been reasonably restored, they want the price of a new truck for it. Found one in Florida last year that was nearly everything I wanted except it was an automatic. It was nearly 30k. My buddy had one in high school that implanted my dream truck. 78 shortbed, 460 stroker, 4 speed with giant lift and 38 mickey Thompson's. He could drift that truck backwards down a hill on pavement and dump the clutch to do a burnout that any Mustang would be proud of.
Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

Did everybody trap in bellbottoms back then? That's all we had! Heck of a chore to get them all rolled up to get the hip boots on.
