Don’t hear much on here about Wyoming marten trappers. Are there any on this site?

Yeah but After all the fires, beetle kill and mange not many marten. Nesting sites are gone no under growth vegetation lack of snow nothing good for the population. Check back in a 100 years they might be back.

Don't trap them but actually see quite a few while archery elk hunting. They are pretty inquisitive critters.

Wytex You must live on the west slope they are doing better there more moisture.

I have heard that there was a real good population in WY but it may have been old news

See them in the Snowies. Have had them come into camp and come in when calling out in field, a few times.

There is not a lot of information out there that I can find on American Marten populations in the United States lower 48. I wonder which state has the highest populations

I had a gentleman named Jerry Pingley that stayed and trapped with me. He lives in West Virginia, however, he stays every summer into October/November working in Wyoming. I can't remember the exact number but I believe he catches a solid number of Marten maybe 40-50? before he heads east every year. I know he went round and round with them regarding the reciprocity rule because West Virginia doesn't have a Marten population and they at first were not going to let him trap with an out of state license after years of doing so. His significant other Cathryn has an account named just that on trapperman.
